Over 180 attendees came to the 2025 Annual meeting held at the Chula Vista Resort in the Wisconsin Dells. The conference included over 90 talks and posters on water resource work across the region. Curt Meine gave a lunch plenary highlighting a history of conservation in Wisconsin. In the evening, Marissa Jablonski provided a brief evening presentation on how Freshwater Collaborative foster partnerships across the state. Mike Wiggins, Jr. provided the evening plenary sharing his perspectives on water resources surrounding the Bad River Watershed as a member of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.
Board elections took place during the lunchtime business meeting under the new board structure. Carla Romano was elected Treasurer, Amy Wiersma elected Student Engagement General Board Officer, Nic Buer elected Local Arrangements General Board Officer, Kirsten James elected Membership and Outreach General Board Officer, and Mike Cardiff elected Vice President.
Adam Freihoefer earned the Distinguished Service Award for his notable career at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources where he is currently Section Manager of the Water Use sections. Nominators spoke to how Adam has been a leader in water management in Wisconsin and is adept at navigating the many dimensions surrounding groundwater use.
