Meeting Highlights
You are invited to attend the annual meeting of the Wisconsin Section of the American Water Resources Association (AWRA) along the Wisconsin River in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Our meeting theme this year is Understanding and Managing Water Resources for the Future. Our plenary session will explore management of the State’s water resources by featuring presentations on the protection of the resource, including details on invasive species and the integrity of the water supply. In addition, more than 40 contributed papers or posters will address a range of current research regarding Wisconsin's water resources. We are looking forward to an exciting meeting and hope to see you there! The complete program and registration materials will be available electronically at the Web sites listed in the next column.

Invited Speakers:
  • Russell Van Herik, Executive Director of the Great Lakes Protection Fund
  • J. Val Klump, Senior Scientist at the Great Lakes WATER Institute at UW-Milwaukee
  • Lon Couillard, Water Quality Manager for the City of Milwaukee Water Works

Contributed Sessions:
  • Contaminant treatment
  • Runoff
  • Aquifer storage and recovery
  • Groundwater-surface water interaction
  • Groundwater contaminants
  • Surface water studies
  • Groundwater studies
  • Water management

The meeting also will include a luncheon business meeting for the Wisconsin Section of the AWRA, a poster session and social, and an evening banquet. Section elections for President-elect, Vice President, Treasurer, and Director at-Large will be held at the luncheon.

Following the meeting there will be a student career workshop from 12:30-2:30 pm. The workshop will include a discussion of job opportunities by a panel representing a range of career choices for water resources professionals. The workshop is free to students and lunch will be provided for up to 30 participants. More details will be available at registration or check the Web sites above.
